About our Principal Designer: Erik Oberg
Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, I spent summers at my grandparents’ lake cabin. When I wasn’t catching sunfish or rowing Grandpa Frank around the lake, I spent time exploring his native plant garden. Lady slippers and milkweed, June bugs, fireflies, and Luna moths amazed and inspired me.
Grandpa Frank’s influence and a family vacation to Yellowstone cemented my career goal, at age 8, to become a park ranger. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in Resource Management and Environmental Education.
Shortly after college I became a National Park Service ranger and later a biologist. I also earned a Masters Certificate in Parks and Public Lands Management. I worked at eight parks including Joshua Tree, Sequoia, and Yellowstone.
I spent my 26-year NPS career studying and restoring natural habitats on public lands. After moving back to California, I decided to start Acorn Design Studios to share my experience and help create pollinator and wildlife habitat, reduce water use, and build beautiful outdoor spaces for homeowners like you.
I believe client collaboration is key to a successful project. I look forward to working with you.
